While in the midst of running messages back and forth between Baltimore and Washington for the U.S. government, John W. Van Hook, one of 3 original developers of Uniontown, bought a couple lots in Congressional Cemetery in June 1864. He is buried there today.

Special thanks to Dayle Dooley at Congressional Cemetery for the find!
